At present, many acrylonitrile production units in China have introduced foreign technology, and the quench tower in the refining and recovery part adopts the process of recovering ammonium sulfate, so that the product recovery rate is 4 percentage points lower than the design index of the unit (the design value is 94%, but actually it is only 90%), which makes the enterprise lose huge profits in vain. The technology to improve the recovery rate of acrylonitrile refining is one of the "ten dragon" key projects of the group company undertaken by Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute. The scientific and technological personnel of the Institute started with basic research and dared to innovate. They have successively completed the basic research on the application of acrylonitrile vapor-liquid phase polymerization kinetics, the quench heat simulation test research to improve the recovery rate of acrylonitrile, and the computer simulation aided research. Finally, they have successfully developed a new technology to change the distribution of gas and liquid flow fields in the tower with new internal components and reduce the polymerization loss of acrylonitrile in the quench tower. The technology was first tested on the 1000 ton industrial unit of Gaoqiao Petrochemical, and the refining recovery rate was increased by 4.9 percentage points compared with the original unit. Then it was applied in the 40000 t/a acrylonitrile unit of Qilu Petrochemical Company. The application unit reported that after the implementation of the new technology, the operation of the unit was stable, and the acrylonitrile yield was significantly increased by the motor at this time, with obvious increase in production and efficiency. After calibration, the acrylonitrile recovery rate of the quench tower reached 96.6%, and the acrylonitrile refining recovery rate of the unit increased by 4 percentage points compared with that before the transformation.
